Dragon Age 2

Whew! Looks like it's Dragon Age night :). This game is the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins and is no way similar to it's predecessor. Bioware went out of their way to fix any and all problems with Origins and produced a strong sequel. Though it doesn't beat Origins, it comes in as a close second for favorite game. It's a powerful story about a refuge who saved their homeland. It spans 10 years and is very much addictive. This one was much shorter than Origins (I finished in a little under 20 hours), but it packs a powerful punch. I'll go over the same things I did with Origins, Characters, Plot, Graphics and overall.
Characters: What to say, what to say... yet again, Bioware has created a group of individuals about as different as they can possibly be. Like in the first game, you have romance options, but unlike the first one (I always, always picked Alistair when I played a girl) I had massive indecision on whom I wanted my girl to be with. Slightly psychotic, warm, loving, human mage Anders? Or tough, brash, independent, elven warrior Fenris? in my first semi run-through, my decision was made for me, Anders. He was difficult to finally get him to agree to be in a relationship, but after that, he was all mine. While on my complete run through, I picked Fenris. He liked to flirt, but once we confessed ourselves, he left my character. :(  completely and utterly heartbroken. ^^^^ that is a testament to how well they did their characters once again. What i loved most was who they picked to voice Fenris, Gideon Emery, whom voiced Balthier from Final Fantasy XII (he was the only reason I played that game). So yet again, Bioware gains a 10/10 for their spectacular character development.
Plot: This plot, was, well, my main complaint, it was too short! I wanted more after the final credit disappeared from the screen. The span of ten years was done very well and how they pulled in what you did in Origins was very impressive. Favorite conversation "Better get back to the old ball and chain." "Ser, you know the Queen hates it when you call her that." "No she doesn't... Just because she killed the archdemon doesn't mean I have to be afraid of her." I almost fell out of my bed because I was laughing and spazzing so much. This was a conversation overheard from King Alistair of Ferelden and his uncle Bann Tegan. Other than it being so short, it was a beautiful, tragic story. I cried several times and I can't thank my friend enough for giving me the game. For plot, Bioware gets 8/10 for being so damn short!
Graphics: Bioware updated their graphics engine, along with pretty much everything else. They kept the graphics the same through out, but they were much better and I appreciated it as I stared at Fenris :) The smoothed them out and worked hard on making the different races have more obvious differences, which was great. For graphics, Bioware gets 8/10 for their progression.
Overall: This game was fantastic. I was enthralled throughout the whole thing. It was very repetitive and they used the same maps for different things, which was a little annoying, but was easily dismissed. It's a great game, not quite as amazing as Origins, but it did well for being a sequel to 2009's game of the year. Overall, I give the game 9/10. It's a must have, definitely worth the purchase.
I can't wait to see what Bioware does next for Dragon Age 3. There better be another one at least, there's a lot of things left unanswered and I love the world they have created. Absolutely fantastic game designers, I look forward to a future filled with Bioware games! :)

Dragon Age: Origins

Now! It's been months! I know... But hey, when you can't play new games a lot, can't really review, right? well, anyway! Now, this isn't a new game, I finished this one a year ago, just never got around to reviewing because I was too busy replaying it. Let me just say this, I LOVE this game, epicostiy barely describes the awesomeness that is Dragon Age: Origins.
I'll go in depth on, characters, plot, graphics and overall how it fit together.
Characters: Never before this game, have I EVER been so attached to characters. Alistair, Sten, Wynne, Morrigan, Oghren, Zevran, and Leliana. They are the people who join you on your quest. I fell head over heels in love with every single one of them, each is very distinct in their ways and if you fuck up, they won't hesitate to tell you so. Truth be told, there is one of them that will forever stay with me and has even shaped the way I look at life (scary that a game character could change you, right?) and that's Alistair Theirin. Son of King Maric and half brother to King Cailan. I love him. End of story. You can tell Bioware put a lot of work into their characterization, and these are NPCs! Every character was different, and I'm not just talking those in your party, but everyone you met along the way. They put an astounding amount of effort into making these people believable. I still half expect to bump into Alistair one day on the street. For characters, they get 10/10.
Plot: Now. This is important to me. As I am a writer, so if there's no storyline, I can't follow it. But Dragon Age: Origins had a HELL of a story line. I was wrapped up in it for hours on end! I couldn't make myself stop playing. You had so much to do, so many people to save. The different beginnings all wrapped into the main story line beautifully, even though every single one was DEPRESSING... :( there have been tears shed for this game, make no mistake of that. The plot was intriguing and gripping through all forty hours of the game. for plot, they get 9/10 for minor repetitiveness.
Graphics: This, is the section that wasn't that fantastic.Though Bioware kept the graphics the same throughout, they weren't fantastic, which is fine, but who doesn't want to see Alistair in all his beautiful glory? The graphics weren't bad, but they weren't great, some of the things were a little choppy and rough, as if you could tell developers were rushing a little. Overall, the graphics get 7/10.
Overall: After I finished this game a year ago, I vowed that no game could ever trump it. It was spectacular in almost every single way and I enjoyed it from the very beginning all the way to the end of the credits when This Is War by 30 Seconds to Mars ended. For an overall score, I give it 10/10. I was very much impressed by Bioware and will always look forward to playing more of their games. I'm just glad my friend told me to play it, one of the most worthwhile investments I've ever made. Dragon Age: Origins is a must have for any RPG gamer!

Fable III

Tis been a long time, I know. But honestly, I've not finished a game since Fallout: New Vegas. I've been pretty busy trying to get my life together. BUT! Now that I'm piecing it together, I've had more time for video gaming :D Which means, this review is on Fable III, which was released October 26th of 2010. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, I was unable to play it until after Christmas, even then I had several games I wanted to play before I got to it.
BUT I should've played this game sooner, because it was GREAT!! I was hooked from second one to the last one. in my first game, I played as the princess, since I am a girl... And it's a roller-coaster story about how your older brother, King Logan, is turning poor Albion, up-side-down. For those of you who are unaware of what happens in Fable and Fable II, I'll give you a quick summary. In Fable, you're a young boy when bandits come and viciously murder your family. Then you're taken to the home of the Heroes. Where you are trained to wield a sword, magic and bow. then you go about Albion in revenge of what happened to your family. That's pretty much it. Then in Fable II 200 years pass, so, needless to say, a lot of things have changed from the Fable you knew and loved. Now, instead of bows, you get crossbows and guns. now, this begins with your being a poor orphan child that scrounges the streets of Bowerstone with your older sister. Apparently, you have both been dreaming of living in the castle, so when you get the chance to make a wish, that's what your sister wishes for. As for me, I was wishing more for something a little more practical, like food and a real shelter. A castle would be nice, but the likelihood would be slim, right? WRONG. that night, you get woken up and escorted to the castle. Where you meet Lucien, you stand on this stone thing and it lights up. Meaning you and your sister have blood of the heroes running in your veins. which is now a bad thing, because Lucien shoots and kills your sister. THEN shoots you, buuut instead of falling to the ground like your sister, you FLY through a window and fall several stories to land in a heap on the cold pavement. But, you're not dead, Theresa, the hero from Fable's older sister saves you. Thus you begin your journey of becoming a hero, getting the Heroes of Strength, Skill and Will, and bringing down Lucien before he can destroy the world.
NOW, back to Fable III, now that you've got the gist of what happens before, you should be able to understand what happens in Fable III. Now, as I said, I'm the sister to the current King of Albion. You wake up to your butler complaining about how lazy you are. Then you get up, pick out an outfit and go visit your "friend" depending on the gender you choose, it'll be the opposite. For girls, it's a strapping young man named Elliot. I fell head over freaking heels in love with him the moment I saw him.... O.O So as the day goes by, you make choices on what you think about your brother, now, since this is a choice based game, everything you do has an impact. At a point, you must decide who to kill, Elliot or mob leaders. I won't say what I chose, but it took me awhile to actually choose. But that night, you're taken from the castle by a family friend and your butler, then you become a hero, just like your father (whom was the hero from Fable II, if you played as female, shhhh you got a gender change and had two children with some random chick, DON'T ASK QUESTIONS!! O.O) anyway... you're now a hero, you weave spells, crush skulls and put bullets in place people shouldn't talk about. Now, what i LOVED about this game, Spell Weaving! O.O I DO NOT play mages, but, i went out of my way to be one in this game because of the spell weaving. One part lightning, one part vortex. Shit's about to go DOWN. :D So as you go through the game, getting people to back you to over throw your brother, you become stronger and stronger and become a hero even more powerful than your father. It's a wonderful story, full of twists, turns, love and loss. By the end of the game, I was crying.
What I loved, spell weaving, VOICE ACTING, Elliot :D, wonderful storyline, creative and well done new menu system.
What I hated, when you go to fight Logan, you can't kill him! Unless you want to go into a war without troops :( ALSO, it's IMPOSSIBLE to get the money to save everyone if you're nice.... EFFFFFFFFF.... which sucks for me, because I always love to play the good people, but on my second go around, I had to play the semi bad person, just so I could save people. AND I freaking hate guns... they're cheap...
All in all, I loved this game. It took me a weekend to play through it. I giggled, cried and ranted my way through it. It's a fantastic game and I look forward to Fable IV, since the Kinect is out now and Lionhead has talked about making Fable IV motion controlled :D :D
But, I must now go enjoy cookies my mother is forcing me to eat (honestly, my roommate and I are to freaking excited right now for these cookies :D) so to my fellow gamers! Play on, and Power to the Gamers! :D

Fallout: New Vegas

Yes people.... it is time for a game review! :D
Now, I got this game on Christmas and not 2 weeks later, does my Xbox commit suicide... :'( lets have a moment of silence for the passing of a spectacular console..... NOW! I got a different Xbox, sure it's not like my old one, which I miss dearly, it's still a console and thus works my games. Though I noticed that New Vegas was far more jumpy than it was before, i let it slide, granted, this Xbox is supposed to be considered new, so I can't run it like the one I had for 3-4 years, so I had to be careful. Well.... after 2 days of about ten hour playing, I beat the game... *blinks* Now, this game was as short as Fallout 3, but in many ways I enjoyed it more. I felt like I was ACTUALLY treated like a woman in that game, which is something Fallout 3 can't say. Now to talk about something that is very important to me in a game, storyline and immersion. Sure New Vegas was a lot like Fallout 3, buuuut I'm not complaining, #3 was pretty damn awesome. But something New Vegas did that #3 didn't, was the immersion level. The storyline was thick with so many twists and turns and decisions that the player can make, that made this game into my own. I have watched someone do a lets play on this game, and needless to say, I had a very different storyline than him. And that's what amazing about this, you can play to your strengths in this game, like I'm really good with melee combat, but I was able to get a companion who was an AMAZING shot (this only made the game so much more fun and scary whenever the game would suddenly slow because my companion had performed a critical kill on a beastie.)
When I finished the game, I felt like I had made so many wrong choices, my amazing Companion left me because I was fighting against his old regime, which SUCKS, because there's nothing I could do to make it work with him :( So now, well, not right now, but probably tomorrow or this weekend, I'll start playing again and see what I can do about making sure I can keep him, because we had honestly been through thick and thin together, buuuut, that didn't stop him from leaving me to DIE at the hands of the Legion, nope nope nope. Love you too Boone, love you too :(. But my cyberpuppy, Rex, was with me until the end :D Which I got him from The King. but all in all, this game is fantastic, if you loved Fallout 3, you'll love this installment, I honestly can't wait to see what happens next :D Thank You Bethseda and Obsidian for such amazing games :D I also can't wait for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim! :D :D :D :D :D arrrrg!!! Yeh Bethseda!!!!! :D
Now for the things I didn't like as much... It might be because I'm a girl and was spoiled by Dragon Age: Origins, buuuut I'd like to see some romance options Obsidian! I mean suuure, I can have sex with people (and managed to kill the guy who wanted to kill me at the beginning of the game, which I might say was pretty awesome of me for killing him AFTER intercourse.) but, I want a freaking relationship, I wanted freaking Boone soooo bad, after he joined my cause I kept going to conversation mode, buuut of course! nothing! :( Also, I wish that when making SMALL choices, it didn't affect so much, like dropping me one whole slot for some group, which really bit me in the ass at the end of the game. And as for getting INTO New Vegas *eyes roll* arg that was a ridiculous task! I don't think I've fast traveled THAT much in a game before, absolutely ridiculous I say! Why couldn't I just charm the shit out of the securitrons? I had a TEN charisma and my speech was at 85, yeesh! And the perks, there were so many to choose from, but I didn't choose many... I kept using intense training, because for me in the long run, it worked the best... and Black Widow of course ;)
But honestly, this game was amazing and addicting! :D absolutely a high chance of replay later on. Perhaps after I play through Fable 3 again or Fallout 3. Keep gaming people! :D

Annoyances

Now, this is not a review, but more of a rant. And i've obviously been pretty bad about posting, I guess life's just got hectic and a little depressing. Though it's no excuse, I'm sticking by it! anyway, on to annoyances.
Now, what really gets me upset, is the fact that people, for some ridiculous reason, have started to think that if I don't agree with their opinion, I am wrong and need to be taught a lesson...-.- what happened to being able to have my own opinion? Isn't the point of having an opinion is that it IS AN OPINION and other people should just freaking respect it! Buuut noooooo of course not. lets just rip people to shreds for having an effing mind of their own. So for all of you nonconformers, just conform orr you're going to get your ass handed to you. And yet my friends still dont understand why I refuse to join in a debate. what's the point of a debate if no one takes your opinion seriously? Yeah, so what if I'm "wrong"? Isn't that the glory of an opinion? YOU CAN'T BE WRONG! If I was saying "well the facts lead to..." then yes, if I am wrong, show me and explain as to WHY I am wrong. But if I say, "Well, I think..." then shut the fuck up and listen to my opinion, if you don't agree with it, at least say you respect it and give me reasons why you don't agree, instead of literally shoving your opinion in my face. Because believe it or not! We're all different! O.O no way! You say. I know! There's some weird thinking right there, but it is the truth. And that's the beauty of the human mind, no matter how similar your life can be to another's, it'll never be the same, because the human mind always does things differently, depending on the person.
In example! Lets take me and a friend of mine, I'm not posting names for safety reasons. So this friend and I, we LOVE video games, we LOVE music, we LOVE technology. BUUUT. Here's the switch! He loves games for gameplay and I love them for the story. He loves music and can compose beautiful songs, I love music and I make stories from what the songs show me in my head. He loves technology and absolutely loves PC and Android and Microsoft, they can do no wrong. While I love Mac, while yes it is WAY EXPENSIVE, it's sturdy and it works for me and what I want to do with my life. <---- This (that which is blue) is the problem. You see, HEAVEN FORBID that I like Mac. I love my iPod and I love macbooks (ask my other friends, I like to steal their laptops all the time so I can play around on them heehee!) So when I say that I like Mac, I get attacked and told I am wrong. I should not support that company and Steve Jobs. Okay.... well.... I'm not a huge fan at how expensive it is, buuuut I have never had an issue with my iPod that I didn't cause to happen. So tell me this, am I wrong to like Apple because it's been good to me and for some reason that some people can't work them? It's not my fault you have issues with Apple, so leave me the hell alone and stop telling me that I'm stupid for liking Apple.

ALSO game consoles. >:o I have never been so angry then when I'm told the 360 sucks and that I shouldn't get a new one. I'm not just going to sell all my 360 stuff and buy a wii.... I don't like what wii has to offer.... it doesn't cater to everyone, yet it does. I guess i'm not a part of everyone because honestly, i've never been more annoyed with a console than a wii. Then someone else tells me, get a PS3.... *looks around for a moment* a PS3? Are you kidding me? I don't have that kind of money.... even if I did, I wouldn't buy that ugly p.o.s. and it's not even backwards compatible. to me, most of the good games are the old ones, so what's the point of getting a ps3 if it doesn't even play ps2 games AND I have a working ps2? at least with the 360, it has games that I want and it hasn't failed me until now. all of a sudden it died. but I've had my friend's brand new ps3 crash on me so many effing times that honestly, all I want to do is punt the damn thing. so out of my past experiences the 360 has worked better for me, but for my friend, his ps3 is better for him, good for him he has his console and I have mine. So leave me alone and let me spend time with my xbox. if you don't like it, then deal with it. that's your opinion. mine is that other than the ps2, the xbox 360 is the best console i've ever had and that apple has treated me far better than the microsoft (not including xbox ( that's in a different league of its own))things I have. Maybe I'm jsut not using my microsoft things properly, but for some reason Apple makes more sense to me. but that might just be me. oh well. to each their own right?

anyway! now that i'm done with my rant and have gotten it all out, i'll let it go with we're all different. lets respect each other a little more, please? Thank You.
